“Feral blues guitar…non-stop gigging has sharpened his six-string to a razor’s edge…his eloquence dazzles…he achieves pyrotechnics that rival early Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton.” –Rolling Stone
Ever since he first hit the road 40 years ago, blues-rock guitar virtuoso, soulful vocalist and prolific songwriter Tinsley Ellis has grown his worldwide audience one scorching performance at a time. Armed with blazing, every-note-matters guitar skills and scores of instantly memorable original songs, Ellis has traveled enough miles, he says, “to get to the moon and back six times.” He’s released 17 previous solo albums, and has earned his place at the top of the blues-rock world.
His imaginative songs tell stories of common, shared experiences in uncommon ways, all fueled by his high-octane, infectious, hard-rocking guitar playing. Live, Ellis has captivated and amazed fans in all 50 United States, as well as in Canada, all across Europe, Australia and South America. Vintage Guitar says, “He delivers blistering blues-rock, soul romps, minor-key blues, and shuffles—and it all sounds great.” The Chicago Sun-Times says, “It’s hard to overstate the raw power of his music.”
Ellis considers his new album, Ice Cream In Hell, the most raw-sounding, guitar-drenched album of his career. Recorded in Nashville and produced by Ellis and his longtime co-producer Kevin McKendree (John Hiatt, Delbert McClinton), Ice Cream In Hell is a cathartic blast of blues-rock power. Throughout the album, Ellis’ deeply emotional, lyrical guitar solos perfectly match his fervent vocals.

Like a beat up old Dodge burning down the highway with a brand new set of rims and a candy metallic paint job, Soulstack carves out their modern roots music in nouveau-retro-style, inspired by sweaty sounds and throbbing rhythms, all performed with deep intensity, wild conviction, greasy organ, sweet tremolo-soaked guitar, and heartbreaking harmonies.?
Soulstack rolled out their full-length debut, “Big Red” in 2012. It garnered substantial airplay and chart position with commercial and college radio. This release was a Hi-Fi representation of their unique live show, already known in circles as a finely tuned machine burning down the highway from Detroit influenced fuzz-tinged rootsy rock’n’roll to swampy Alabama soul.
Following suit, in 2013 Soulstack released ‘Five Finger Discount’ to further acclaim. With these two releases garnering international radio play, TV shows, nominations, awards, large north American festival shows and an European debut appearance (Moulin Blues, Netherlands). Soulstack was positioning themselves as a band to watch. Equally as a full electric band, or in a more intimate acoustic setting, backed by percussion and hand drum; Soulstack delivers a visceral experience – one of seasoned musicians playing the music of their roots with authentic realism. It’s the sound of Staples Singers-inspired southern harmony, tremolo-drenched baritone guitar, with a late-sixties New Orleans-style rhythm section and the gurgle of a Hammond organ driving it along. All with a very characteristic lead vocal out front.
In 2015 the band released their third studio album, ‘Soulstack’ which was recorded live off the floor with the classic method – six men in a room recorded straight onto 2″ analog tape, ‘Soulstack’ captures the band as a moment in time, as one would see and hear the band at a live show, delivering the energy and excitement of their live performance directly onto this recording. It is currently on rotation on many stations around the globe and is often featured on the CBC as well as BBC.
Soulstack has recently released a live album called “LIVE CUTS” which features a variety of tracks superbly recorded in a live small club setting, as well as two tracks from Moulin Blues in The Netherlands. The release will be used for promotional purposes initially, followed by a formal release.
The band is excited to announce that pre-production and woodshedding has already begun for the fourth full-length studio album the tongue-in-cheekly named “SWEATY MOMENTS”.
